world championships

We’re looking forward to our upcoming USEF National Driving Championships (for horse pairs and for ponies) and our own Kentucky Classic championships (for preliminary- and intermediate-level drivers).

But, in the meantime, a couple of World Championships are being contested. The Four-in-Hand Driving Championship was held just last weekend at the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games in France.

We send our congratulations to the team and individual medal winners, including the USA’s own Chester Weber, who won the individual silver medal.

Boyd Exell (Australia) won the gold medal and Theo Timmerman (the Netherlands) won the bronze. In the team competition, the Dutch won the gold medal, the Germans won silver, and the Hungarians won bronze. The U.S. team — Chester, Misdee Wrigley Miller (in the first photo below), and Lisa Stroud (in the second photo below) — finished in fourth place overall.

Then, in a couple of weeks, the single-horse drivers will be in Hungary to compete in their World Championship. Jacob Arnold (North Carolina), Leslie Berndl (California), and Donna Crookston (Pennsylvania) will represent the United States. Go Team USA!!
